Immortality is Here - No Human But Jellyfish Is Using Them.

Immortality is here by now … but only in case you are a definite species of jellyfish!

While the humans have been looking for the elixir of life throughout every period of history, it appears that there is one species of jellyfish that are actually immortal. 
Turritopsis nutricula , or perhaps sometimes - Turritopsis dohrnii, is able to transform its cells from mature state back to be able to immaturity, in other words - back to youth.

It has the ability to revert its cells returning to their earliest form and start growing anew. Over and over again. This usually happens in a reaction to a crisis, but scientists have seen this occur repetitively.

If a mature Turritopsis is threatened and this can include receiving actual injury or not enough food and starvation, it attaches itself to a surface in warm ocean waters and converts itself in to a micro-blob. From that state, its cells undergo “transdifferentiation”, transforming into different types of cells. Muscle cells can be sperm or eggs, or nerve cells can change into muscle cells. This is something no time before seen in the animal kingdom, and may be the only creature capable of doing this kind of.

The bell-shaped immortal jellyfish measures up to maximum of bout 4. 5 millimeters (0. 18 in) and is about the same in its length and was discovered in the Mediterranean Sea in 1883, but its unique ticket to immortality through regression and regeneration was not known until the mid-1990s.

Some claim that their mystery is soon being solved and applied to humans, while others only expect it to improve the quality regarding life at our final stages. Either way, knowing that something out there goes back and also forth from being young to old to young again, blows your mind!
